Upcoming Series

What do you think of this concept for our upcoming series - WHY?

The series starts on easter and follows for five weeks. The titles are not concrete but here are the big ideas.

WHY?: Celebrate Easter

WHY?: Gather Together

WHY?: Life Groups

WHY?: You Should Grow

WHY?: Mission

WHY?: Serve

Why are we doing this? Just kidding, just thought I'd run with the whole "why" theme.

Honestly... and this might just be me but it sounds boring. I do like this type of image, something a bit more abstract is great. Josh what are you looking to accomplish in this series?
Sorry I hope I don't sound like a negative Nancy.

Sarah, I have to agree with you. I don't care for the image, but I love the idea of the series. I would still love to see a "Why" guy and use "him" for images. I just see a character that is asking "why?" Makes it a more personal journey. I hope this is making sense.

Lindsey and Sarah actually disagree.

Anyone else care to comment on the content?

Sarah - "sounds boring"
Lindsey - "I love the idea of the series"

Intention of the series is two fold.

1. Those new to the church - bring them up to speed on our philosphy of minsitry and biblically why we do the things we do.

2. I have found through experience that all of us need reminders of why we do the things we do, but specifically why we do them at Life at the Ridge and why we feel it is so important in the life of every believer.

I am going forward with the concept, but Sarah I honestly appreciate your honest response. So I would ask, how can we address it in such a way that is powerful and not boring?

but imagine Matt or Jeremy. use videos of them asking the questions, receiving "typical" but less than adequate answers and extract still images for print and ppt.

or, like you and I talked about Josh, doing a spoof of the mac and pc guys. I know that will be Jeremiah's favorite idea. :) The idea being that the "pc guy" is the traditional "way" we always do things and the "mac guy" is asking the whys.

oops, Sarah, sorry. I like the image for image sake, but I think it looks too boring. I think I am the negative Nancy. Or maybe I can be Debbie Downer.

I am not a fan of the poeple in general.

But if Matt is the uptight old school, suit and tie, gaint bible guy, I could imagine using a picture of him on stuff.

I have to say...I like what Josh created but I did tell him that I felt like it didn't go exactly along with the idea of the mac\pc thing we thought we would do. I'm thinking more simple -- white screen, simple font, real basic. I don't like the idea of people necessarily...maybe I feel like it gives too much away? Does that make sense? A basic WHY on a screen causes people to think a little more...not go exactly to where we want them to go. DOes that make sense at all?

Sarah, it seemed as though you were saying the series itself sounded boring, care to expound? I dont want to run right past that comment.

Also, Tanys might be onto something with a white screen and the word why in the middle. Pretty small but not too small.

Might be pretty cool looking.

I really love Tanya's idea! I don't think the font is there yet, but I really like the idea. And I think that was my hesitation, I didn't think it matched the idea. But now it does! I am not so much of a fan of always using people, especially all over. Maybe an image of Matt could pop up every once in a while. :)

I tend to agree with sarah I think, but I need more time to be able to articulate why.... And I think boring is the wrong word... I think after the last series and some of the respones we got there is some possibility to talk about some really big deep things and at face value maybe this series sounds like we might be backing out and focus on something more operational than influential... But that is only at face value.

Although I like the idea of some artwork that shows jesus in a suit and tie that says "what don't you wear a suit and tie like jesus did" ;-)
